The School
Northview High School is one of three comprehensive high schools within the Covina Valley Unified School District.  Established in 1959, the school is located on 43 acres of land that is landscaped attractively with trees, shrubs, and, grass. Northview High School serves the cities of Covina and Irwindale. Our enrollment for the school year 2006-07 is 1540.

Northview High School is committed to providing its students with a comprehensive education that ensures a lifetime of excellence. We strive to establish a rigorous and progressive curriculum that is both challenging and relevant to all students; one which promotes, within a safe learning environment, the intellectual, creative, and emotional growth of each individual, so that each may attain the skills necessary to realize his or her dreams and goals for future success.

The Community
Covina is a predominately suburban community just east of Los Angeles. Overall, Covina enjoys the image of a solid and stable middle-class community with an abundance of old town charm.  It was cited as one of the ten best places to live in the U.S.

School District
Covina-Valley Unified School District has three comprehensive high schools, one alternative high school, three middle school (6-8) and twelve elementary schools.  The district also offers independent study and adult education classes.  C-VUSD encompasses the cities of Covina, San Dimas, Irwindale Glendora, Walnut, and West Covina.

The grading system is an unweighted 4.0 grading scale/class rank. Physical Education grades are not calculated into academic grade point average.

CAHSEE
Starting with the class of 2006, all students must take and pass the California High School Exit Exam in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics.

Special Programs
Renaissance: Our Renaissance program honors students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.000 or higher or have raised their semester GPA.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination): The AVID program provides academic and motivational support to underrepresented and disadvantaged students in order to prepare them for a successful college career.

P.E.A.C.E. (Peers Easing All Conflicts Everywhere): The Northview Vikings for P.E.A.C.E. program is a peer mediation program which helps support students in the successful resolution of conflicts.
