The mission of the Guidance program is to promote and enhance the learning process for all students in the areas of academic development, career development and personal/social development to ensure that all students will become life-long learners and contributing members of society.

Philosophy
The counselors believe that all students have dignity and worth. The counselors further believe that all students have the ability to learn and the right to participate in the guidance program.
  • All students will be served by the Guidance Department
  • The guidance program is based on goals, related student competencies, and standards
  • The guidance program is consistent with the needs of individual students
  • Guidance program activities are implemented by the entire school community
  • Each student shall have the opportunity to develop a personal learning plan and four year plan
Program
Guidance activities and services are provided to all students. They are grade appropriate, competency based, and aligned with the American School Counselors' Association's National Standards for School Counseling Programs. Communication and collaboration with stakeholders is an integral component of this program.

Counseling Curriculum
9th Grade
Academic: Students will demonstrate study skills necessary to improve learning.
Career: Students will utilize an interest inventory to develop a four year personal learning plan and become aware of a broad career path.
Personal: Students will become oriented to the high school setting, become aware of support services and develop a four year personal learning plan.

10th Grade
Academic: Students will identify graduation and college requirements.
Career: Students will investigate the options within a broad career pathway.
Personal: Students will set goals and acquire decision-making skills.

11th Grade
Academic: Students will analyze their educational programs with relationship to postsecondary options.
Career: Students will identify post graduate institutions which will prepare them for career goals.
Personal: Students will understand the leadership necessary to be beneficial to the school and community.

12th Grade
Academic: Students will complete the academic requirements to prepare for their post graduate plans.
Career: Students will demonstrate the relationship between personal qualities, education, and the real world of work.
Personal: Students will demonstrate attitude, knowledge and interpersonal skills, helping them to understand and respect themselves and others.
